Solibad caught my eye almost 10 years ago when I came across a Youtube video about One Night with the Stars in Geneva which involved players such as Peter Gade, Nathan Robertson and Poul-Erik Hoyer Larsen, the incumbent president of the BWF as well as a member of the International Olympic Committee.
Solibad, short for "Solidarity and Badminton", is a charity founded by Raphael Sachetat with a motto of "badminton without borders". Their goal is to raise funds to provide financial and material assistance to children living in deprived communities and at the same time, introduce them to the fun game of badminton.
I was extremely honoured to have the opportunity to meet and interview its founder, Raphael Sachetat, at the 2022 All England tournament. After speaking with Raphael, I also realise that despite all the great work that Solibad has done and continues to do, they are not getting and so I came up with the idea of raising awareness for Solibad and at the same time, giving some badminton fans the opportunity to win amazing prizes!
